So, If you are studying this I am pretty sure you want to pass JLPT/NAT. We will be discussing about the study method, where to search, which resource to refer and all those nitty gritty details. This article will be focused on how to pass the exam rather than gaining core language knowledge.

You can also use this as a step by step guide.

FOUNDATION

So there are three basic writing systems.

  1. HIRAGANA
  2. KATAKANA
  3. KANJI

You have to master HIRAGANA and KATAKANA by heart. Believe me this will be really helpful for you in future for you to solve the reading sections in the exam.

RESOURCE

HIRAGANA

KATAKANA

https://kanapractice.com/ - You can go to this website and practice your by guessing the kanas after completing these two videos.

Personal suggestion:

This is not mandatory but still

I suggest you to spend some good quality amout of time memorizing kanas, take a note, write 5 kanas each day, this might sound hard but believe me this will make you go places.

THE NEXT STEP

When I was doing self study back in  2021, I have no idea where to start with? I have tried many and came with a one good material/book which I think worth recommending.

It is the GENKI series,

The GENKI series consists of two volumes, GENKI-I is for N5 and  GENKI-II is for N4.

GENKI-I is more than enough to pass N5. You can buy it from any e-commerce platform or download it in other ways, I am sure you know what I mean.

Use GENKI don't go for Minna no Nihongo if you are doing self study, you won't understand anything without a sensei.

Learn everything from genki just don't do Kanji leave that aside I have a good suggestion.

RESOURCE:

So, all the grammars and test pattern questions are covered in GENKI-I itself, now the only thing that left is you to start learning GENKI-I.

KANJI:
Kanji will be most hardest thing when you first start studying Japanese, but it is not that scary if you only want to pass and get the certficate. There are some set of kanjis which will be more than enough to pass N5.

RESOURCE:

The below pdf is enough for kanji.

LISTENING:

PERK FOR TAMIL PEOPLE

If you are someone who knows Tamil, I have a great yoututbe channel for you!.

You can just watch this and pass N5 just like that.

OTHER USEFUL RESOURCES

I personally love this channel but he doesn't have much video though.

CONCLUSION

So as you can see from the above you can understand the score to pass the exam, understanding this part is crucial even before start learning. It is very easy peeps, believe me, I have been there thinking it like rocket science but it isn't.

Now, all you need is to start learning and committing your 100 percent to Japanese langugae while learning. Spend a solid time of 1-2 hour a day, you'll be able to pass your first JLPT exam and get your certificate within 1.5 months to 2 months.

But you have to spend good time learning.
